For the first thirty years of my life I lived near an ocean. During this time I developed a love for the water and spend most of my days surfing and SCUBA diving. As I grew older I also pursued my childhood goal of learning martial arts. So at twenty-seven, I started studying American Kenpo. It took seven years, but with hard work and dedication I earned my black belt. I continued studying and teaching Kenpo for five more years when I earned a second degree black belt.
As strange as it sounds I no longer live near the ocean, and I only practice Kenpo in my home. However, someday my wife and I plan to move back near an ocean where I will surf again, and perhaps I will open my own dojo? In the mean time, I ‘ve been playing and studying guitar for the past five years. My goal is to learn “finger style” and “flat-picking” so one day I will be good enough to sit-in with a few musicians and play some good music.
Other then learning guitar, for the past ten years most of my time is spent at my computer (an intel mac pro). I have a nice view from my studio and I find graphic design and website design a fun and creative outlet. As far as a J-O-B goes, it is a great way to spend the day if you want to make an honest living. Currently, my wife and I go to the gym three or four days a week. I enjoy lifting weights and swimming laps. I don’t lift heavy weights or swim for hours, but I do enjoy spending about 75 minutes when we go to the gym.
My wife and I have been happily married for 10 years. She makes being married wonderful and she has put up with all my hobbies and interests with excitement and encouragement –she is the love of my life. We have three dogs: Molly, Sarah and Katie, they love going on walks and telling us what to do …and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
