Is Wikia Search The Next Big Engine?

On January 7, 2008 Wikia officially threw their hat in the search engine ring. The reviews are mixed, some good and some bad. As I understand it, this is how the search engine will determine search results:
- Initially, the search results will be based on an algorithm. As time goes on human editors will review sites.
- Once a website is in the Wikia Search Engine Database, the public can vote on a site. The more votes the better ranking.
- On top of the search results page will be short articles or brief information. These will be edited and added by the public, similar to Wikia.
Good or bad you can decide for yourself. Visit wikia search and take it for a spin.
