Tip #3- Choosing a graphic artist

This is the third answer to the article in the Lincoln Business Journal.

Which file types and programs are most favored by printers?

Most printers accept three file types: pdf, eps and tiff. However there are limitations to what can be changed when submitting these files. Therefore, in some cases a printer will accept the “native” file, or the file a project was originally built in. The most popular and widely accepted are: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or QuarkXpress. Where there could be a problem is if a project is build in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint or Publisher. A lot of printers do not accept these files and therefore can not help fix some problems, leaving the owner scrabbling to find a printer that will accept a Microsoft file. Therefore, if the file is going to be built using a Microsoft application, make sure to check that the printer will be able to accept the job in the native format, just in case there are any issues that need to be resolved.
