Some browsers (ie IE) don't do the margin:auto thing well. In addition to what you've mentioned, set the text-align of the body to center, and text-align of the wrapper to left. This will center the wrapper div in browsers that don't handle margin:auto correctly and the text-align:left on the wrapper div will ensure that text isn't center-aligned.
